About MEAL PlanR

MEAL PlanR rests on a solid body of evidence supporting behavioral parent training to improve child behavior and overall participation during meals. In our work, we have shown that MEAL PlanR establishes appropriate mealtime behaviors, successfully expands dietary variety, and empowers caregivers to make meaningful and lasting changes in their child's relationship with food.

Meet the Team

Our team of feeding experts have a combined 30 years of expertise in the assessment and treatment of feeding difficulties in pediatric populations. With MEAL PlanR, we package this expertise into a training curriculum aimed at helping therapists and caregivers learn new ways to structure meals, improve parent-child interactions, and promote more healthy eating habits.

The TEAM

Online Learning

The training curriculum is built around the MEAL PlanR treatment manual. This manual provides a roadmap for restructuring mealtime interactions and introducing new foods in a way that promotes child engagement in the learning process. We currently offer online training for providers to learn to use the manual using a parent-as-co-therapist model of care.

We are currently offering a 2-day, 6-hour workshop that introduces the treatment approach and discusses key aspects of implementing the intervention. Participants will also receive a copy of the MEAL PlanR treatment manual (Therapist Manual and Parent Workbook).

On average, children who participate in MEAL PlanR add 10 new foods to their diet during the 12 weeks of intervention, including at least 2 new fruits and vegetables. Treatment is also associated with a signifiant improvement in participation in mealtimes, including sitting at the table, enhanced parent-child interactions, and increased exploration of new foods.
